Part or Full-time ARRC Assistant

Parrots are at the forefront of all that we do, so we are looking for a keeper that is confident in working with Psittacines, for immediate start. This position is based within ARRC (The Animal Rehabilitation and Reception Centre) at the park. It will mainly involve the husbandry and cleanliness of sick or new parrots to the sanctuary.

Hours of work: Minimum of 3 days per week

Rate of pay: National Living Wage

What is involved?

Working in ARRC will involve all aspects of animal keeping and husbandry, within mainly a Parrot collective. This specialist environment within the park provides care and protection to the animals within our sanctuary. Working with animals can be very physically demanding and will involve a high volume of cleanliness & manual labour when clearing, re-bedding and maintaining cages and incubation units. You will be expected to perform health and safety checks, maintain a high level of hygiene, provide enrichment and nutrition to the animals & work as part of a team. 

What is expected of you?

We are looking for a candidate with a special interest and passion for parrots and birds. We are The Parrot Zoo Trust, so confidence around bird species is a must. It is beneficial to have gained a qualification in Animal Care or Husbandry & provide evidence of any academic achievements relating to this role, but all applicants will be considered. Part of this role will be to work closely with work experience students and volunteers of the charity, as well as the general public bringing their parrot(s) to be rehomed with us. We expect our staff to conduct themselves in a timely & professional manner at all times while representing our charity.

POSITION FILLED – Part-time Receptionist

We are looking for an enthusiastic, confident individual that has an aptitude for working with the general public, in an office-based environment. We are The Parrot Zoo Trust, a charity for the rehoming and rehabilitation of parrots and exotic species; currently holding the largest collection of parrots and Bengal Tigers in the UK and one of the fastest growing animal attractions in Lincolnshire. We have a busy, seasonal attraction near Skegness that invites both local residents and holiday makers.

Hours of work: Mon & Fri weekly (possible Thurs weekly and annual leave cover). 9am – 5pm desired but negotiable to assist with childcare hours.

Rate of pay: National Living Wage

What is involved?

The main roles will include greeting visitors at reception, using the till system to book them in, answering the telephone to book experiences and answer general questions about the park. The role is based within the parks reception and admin offices, where there will be administrative tasks such as filing and printing. There will also be a certain amount of cleaning duties around the office and when opening and closing the entrance area. 

What is expected of you?

We are looking for a candidate with a confident and polite manner, who would be enthusiastic about answering the telephone and helping with other general tasks around the admin offices. The role will include helping the charity to raise funds through Gift Aid, so the candidate will be expected to speak confidently with visitors about Gift Aid (training provided). The candidate will be handling money on a daily basis. The candidate may be requested to work weekends and special event days to help the charity.

Mini Mondays: Santa’s Grotto for Toddlers

The Elf Party: Dancing, Crafting, and Festive Fun

Looking for more Christmas fun for the kids? Join us for our Elf Party on Wednesday, 18th December, from 4pm to 6pm. Suitable for children aged 3-12 years, this event is a wonderful mix of entertainment, crafts, and holiday magic. For £8 per child, your little ones can enjoy a mini steam train ride, festive crafts, a disco with festive party tunes, and a special story time with Mrs Claus herself. Plus, they’ll receive a sandwich box and a goody bag to take home!

Parents can also join in the fun for free (up to two adults per family), so it’s the perfect festive outing to create cherished memories.

 Park Entry for £1: Christmas Days Out on a Budget!

This year, we’re making sure that everyone can enjoy the festive season with cheap Christmas events at Lincolnshire Wildlife Park. From 1st to 23rd December, park entry is only £1 per person — yes, just £1! This special deal means families can enjoy a fun-filled Christmas adventure without breaking the bank. Annual pass holders and subscribers can enter for free, and those booking Santa’s Grotto will receive four free entry tickets. It’s our way of spreading Christmas cheer!

Golden Oldies Christmas Event: Celebrating Together

We’re also spreading festive cheer to our older community members. Golden Oldies, held on Wednesday, 4th December, is a delightful Christmas event for those aged over 65. This heartwarming day includes a free festive meal with Christmas pudding, bingo, and festive music, followed by free access to the park. It’s a wonderful way to spend time with friends, share stories, and embrace the Christmas spirit. Help us spread the word to care homes and elderly support networks!

Reindeer Experiences: Meet Santa’s Helpers!

Ever wondered what it’s like to get up close with Santa’s reindeer? Well, now’s your chance! Throughout December, on Mondays to Thursdays, you can take part in our Reindeer Experience. With options for one to four people, you’ll learn about these incredible animals and make magical memories. Time slots are available at 11am and 3pm, with prices starting at £75 per person, perfect for families and small groups looking for something truly unique.

Elf HQ and North Paul’s Kiosk: Christmas Fun and Treats for All

Elf HQ is your go-to spot during all grotto days from 11am to 5pm. With different activities daily, Elf HQ is a hub of festive fun, including crafts and games for children. Pick up your grotto tickets here or make a last-minute booking to ensure your spot to meet Santa.

North Paul’s Kiosk is also open every day from 11am, where you can enjoy roasted marshmallows, mince pies, hot and cold drinks, and delicious hot dogs by the warm, crackling fire. It’s the perfect spot to take a break and warm up during your festive adventure.
